The Williamson Apple Blossom Festival is celebrating 60 years. thank you to all whom have made the festival what it is.

the 60th Apple Blossom Festival kicked off On Thursday night with the Kiddie Parade. The Winner in the Bikes and Wagons category was “Future Wayne County Apple Grower,” with “Superheroes in Bloom” second and “USA-Patriotic” in third place. The Miscellaneous Category was won by Bathing Beauties – “Splish Splash” . In Second – was “Woodstock Bound”, in third place The Williamson Scarlet Thread Youth Center. In the Themes Category, “Future Apple Blossom Queen and Princesses” won First Place. The Second place winner was “1991 – Around the World in Blossoms.” Third place was taken by “60s and 70s”

Friday We enjoyed our Street Dance with the Deans List, our vendors had some amazing business and the evening was calm and cool. At the other side of town, the Williamson Booster club (Formally Williamson Civic Betterment Association) held their 5k Race, the top male runner was Matthew Roberts, with a total time of 18 minutes and 03 seconds. The top female Runner was Sarah Nesci with a total time of 22 minutes 56 seconds.

Saturday, prior to the parade we enjoyed music donated by Dorfner Entertainment. Prior to the parade 3D Line dancing put on a show, and Kuk sool won had a demonstration in front of their school. At three pm we had  the parade – this was one of the longest in recent memory, and lasted more than an hour. In our Floats competition, first place was awarded to the Girl Scouts for the Disney World display, second place went to the DCT Dance Company for the Christmas celebration in step and dancing to the music on Main Street, and third place went to Boy Scout Troop 521. That evening Flint Creek put on the Street Dance, and Motts sponsored our Fireworks display at dusk.

On Sunday, the Williamson Fellowship of churches put on a wonderful service, Despite the rain predicted, we had 38 amazing cars and trucks com out for our Apple Blossom Car Show. the cake-decorating contest was won by Hayley Musclow with a beautiful display of real apple blossoms, with second place taken by Tracy Lessord. The williamson Rec Committee held their  Kids Main Street Mile. For the second year in a row, fifth-grader Ben Burns crossed the finish line first, in a time of 6:18. On the girl’s side, Ellie Alexander, a fourth grader, finished with a time of 6:56. In total, 72 kids participated in the event.

We would like to thank three committee members who have helped make this festival into a memorable experience for all, and although this is the last year they will be official members, they will always be members of the committee. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Colleen Mccarty, Cindy Smith, and Ajaleah Abdunnasir, each with over 10 years of dedication. you will be missed.
